Obituary

JOSEPH FRANKLIN MAYNARD age 68 of La Vergne, died Monday, June 14, 2010. A native of Putnam County, he was the son of the late Shirley and Oma Cole Maynard. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday at Woodfin Chapel Smyrna with Jimmy Jones officiating. Special friends will serve as pallbearers. Mr. Maynard is survived by his wife Linda Henley Maynard, his daughters Marcia (Terry) Dickerson of Alexandria, Virginia, Lee (Drew) Diamond, and Jolynda (John Allen) Davis, both of Murfreesboro, his grandchildren Zachary Maynard, Cole Diamond, Jackson Diamond, and Tanner Davis, brothers Carlyn (Betty) Maynard of Crossville, Kenneth (Betty) Maynard of Dickson, and his sisters Theda Brown, Elizabeth OConner both of Baxter, and Ruby (Jerry) Jones of Houston, Texas. Mr. Maynard is preceded in death by his grandson, Nicolas Curren Beene. Mr. Maynard was a truck driver who retired from Roadway in 2003. In retirement, he was an avid cowboy, and he crossed the country many times on his Gold Wing motorcycle with several close friends. Visitation will be Wednesday and Thursday from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Woodfin Chapel Smyrna.
