Joseph D. Eccles, age 78, of LaVergne, TN, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 30, 2019. A native of Nowata, Oklahoma he was the son of the late Henry and Rose Lee Eccles. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife Myra "Joanie" Bannister Eccles; and his brother George Eccles.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, November 5, 2019 at Woodfin Chapel in Smyrna. Brother Jerry Maxwell will officiate. Burial will be in Mapleview Cemetery.

He is survived by his children, Joseph Douglas Eccles, Richard Eccles, Cheryl Eccles, William Eccles, and Christopher Eccles; grandchildren, Stephanie, Leslie, Tonya, Joseph, Drake, William, Jarod, Ashley, and Misty; eight great-grandchildren; brothers, Lee Eccles, Earl Eccles, and John Eccles; sisters, Faye Harrington, Stella Sanders, Margaret Jeton, and Susan Fuller; along with much loving extended family.

Mr. Eccles was a member of Gilroy Church of Christ where he also assisted in leading songs. He was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force and was a retired welder with Square D in Smyrna. He enjoyed working on cars and loved Ford vehicles. Mr. Eccles will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be Monday, November 4, 2019 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Woodfin Chapel in Smyrna.
