Obituary

John Benjamin Sledge, age 73 of Murfreesboro, died Tuesday at Adams Place. He was a native of Rutherford County and a son of the late John E. and Eudie Smith Sledge. In 2009 he was preceded in death by his wife Linda Sledge and a son Jonathon Bradley Sledge. Mr. Sledge is survived by a son Trevor Sledge and his wife Libby; a daughter in law Karen Sledge; three grandchildren Lauren, Jacob and Benjamin Sledge; a brother Charles Sledge and his wife Marie, two sisters Louise Westbrooks and Betty Brown, all of Murfreesboro. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Friday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Randall Matlock will officiate. Pallbearers will be Ronnie Sledge, Matt Sledge, Chris Sledge, Les Westbrooks, Phillip Westbrooks, Les Schmidt, and Butch Vaughn. Visitation will be Thursday night from 4:00 until 8:00 pm at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Mr. Sledge was a 1958 graduate of Christiana High School, a Corporal in the Tennessee National Guard and was co-owner of SledgeCraft, Inc.
