John Russ Russell Kelly, age 19, an angel from Heaven, departed this life on July 31, 2012. Russ was a strong Christian and a member of Stones River Baptist Church. He was a graduate of LaVergne High School, a proud band member and tuba player, an Eagle Scout and a guitar player. Russ is survived by his parents, Susan and Rusty Kelly; brother, Reed Kelly; maternal grandparents, Harold and Linda McMurtry; paternal grandparent, Bill Kelly; uncles, Ron (Mary) Kelly, Ricky (Janice) Kelly, Randy Kelly; his aunt, Anita Hewitt; cousins, Ryan, Ross and Rob Kelly, along with many extended family members. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Mary Frances Anderson Poore. The LaVergne High School Tuba players will serve as Pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the LHS Band Boosters Tuba Fund. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m., at Woodfin Funeral Chapel in Smyrna. Pastor Oscar White and Brother Nathan Kinser will officiate. Burial will follow in Mapleview Cemetery.
