John David Powers, age 58, of Smyrna, TN passed away Sunday, April 28, 2013. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1:00PM at Woodfin Funeral Chapel in Smyrna. Clint Morgan will officiate. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Mr. Powers is survived by his loving wife, Beverly Stewart Powers; brother, Fred H. Powers, Jr. of Smyrna; and his step-son, Michael Anthony Millspaugh of Smyrna. Mr. Powers was preceded in death by his parents, Fred H. Powers Sr. and Barbara Ann Haynes Powers. Mr. Powers was born at Sewart Air Force Base in Smyrna, TN in 1954. He was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Powers was a 1972 graduate of Smyrna High School and attended college at Middle Tennessee State University. He was retired from Bridgestone after 37 years. Mr. Powers was a former secretary of United Steel Workers Local 1055L, a Union Activist and an avid tennis player. Scott Smith, Dan Bailey, Larry Pierce, Rick Phillips, John Peterson, and Mike Bargatze will serve as pallbearers. Clint Morgan, Bill Johnson and Bob Timmerman will serve as honorary pallbearers. Visitation with the family will be Tuesday from 4:00PM to 8:00PM at Woodfin Funeral Chapel in Smyrna. 615-459-3254
