JOHN E. McDONALD age 89 of Smyrna died February 18, 2011 at Stonecrest Medical Center. Mr. McDonald was a native of Rutherford County and was the son of the late John E. and Elizabeth Robertson McDonald, Sr. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Roselawn Memorial Garden. Bro. Wayne Lankford and Dr. Lenny Farmer will officiate. Mr. McDonald is survived by his wife Leanell Hudson McDonald, daughter and son-in-law Barbara and Curtis Wheat of Smyrna, granddaughter Andrea (Tober) Hensley, great-granddaughter Adriana Hensley, great-grandson Lane Hensley all of Mansfield, TX, and a niece Elizabeth Barnhill of Murfreesboro. Mr. McDonald was a member of East Main Street Church of Christ. He was a veteran of the US Navy where he served at Pearl Harbor and was a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans. He was employed at Avco from 1951 until his retirement as general foreman in 1979. He enjoyed making and restoring furniture for his family and many friends.
