John Gary Anderson

“Ralph”

1942 – 2026

John Gary Anderson (known as “Ralph” to many), age 84, of Nashville, TN, died Monday, August 3, 2026. He was born in Franklin, TN, and was preceded in death by his parents, John Wesley Anderson and Ruth Jackson; and his siblings, Bobby Wiles and Wesley Anderson.

Mr. Anderson was a Christian and a 24-year veteran of the United States Army who served in both active and reserve status, attaining the rank of Sergeant First Class. He deployed during the Vietnam Conflict and Operation Desert Storm. He was “Airborne All the Way,” having served with the 173rd Airborne Brigade, the 82nd Airborne Division, the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), and the 861st Quartermaster Company.

He retired as a Master Mechanic from Beaman Automotive Group, where he was best known as “Ralph”.

He recently celebrated his 50th year as a Mason and was a Past Master and dedicated Brother of Beech Lodge #240.

Mr. Anderson is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Peggy Anderson; his children, Sam Anderson and wife Colleen, Tonia Taylor, and Johnny Anderson and wife Jennifer; his grandchildren, Zeke Anderson and wife Olivia, Seth Anderson and wife Jessica, Samantha Anderson, and Adam Taylor; his great-grandchildren, Perry Mae and Colson; and his brother, George Martin Anderson and wife Debbie.

Visitation will be held Friday, August 7, 2026, from 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. A funeral service, with masonic rites will follow at 5:00 PM, Friday, August 7, 2026, at Woodfin Memorial Chapel.
