Obituary

JOHN WESLEY FLOYD age 77 of Murfreesboro died Sunday March 29, 2009. A native of Westport, Tennessee he was the son of the late James Leslie and Ruby Matlock Floyd. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at Woodfin Memorial Chapel with Paul Norwood officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery. Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. He is survived by his wife of 60 years Betty Dinkins Floyd, Daughters Cindy (Jim) Skinner of OH, Teresa Floyd of KY, Delores (Edward) Wallace of McKenzie, Sons J. David (Kathryn) Floyd, Kenneth Floyd both of Murfreesboro, William (Vera) Shipp of McKenzie, sisters Elizabeth (J.D.) Creasey and Dorthy Mann both of McKenzie, Ruth Helen Runion of MI, 15 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He served in the U.S. Army and also served as a board member for Focus on Youth Inc. of Cincinnati, OH. He was a retired truck driver with numerous awards for safe driving, and he was a faithful member of Walter Hill Church of Christ. He loved his God, Family and Country.
