John Garfield Drake, age 59, of Murfreesboro, TN, passed away on Monday, May 25, 2015. A graveside service will be Friday at 3:00 p.m. at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Friday from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Mr. Drake is survived by his nephew, Tim Hewgley; and niece, Christina Holland and her husband James; along with several cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thurman Garfield Drake and Mary Frances Davis Drake; and sister, Sheila Hewgley. Mr. Drake was a 1975 graduate of Oakland High School. He was a retired forklift operator with Better Bilt Aluminum Products in Smyrna having worked there for 37 years. Mr. Drake enjoyed watching Nascar and loved traveling to the races, especially to Daytona and Talladega. He will be most remembered for his sense of humor and outgoing personality. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
