JOHN MILLER DOWNS age 67 of Murfreesboro, TN, died Monday March 9, 2009 from a courageous battle with cancer. A native of Shelbyville, TN, he was the son of the late William Harold and Callie Lavenia Thompson Downs. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Carole Lee Downs, daughter and son in law, Lisa and George Gossage, son, John Miller Downs, Jr. and his friend Theresa all of Murfreesboro, Brother, Billy Downs of Lynchburg, and grandchildren, Rachel Gossage Deml and her husband Mark, Amanda Grace Gossage , and great-grandson, Elijah Jackson Deml all of Murfreesboro. Graveside services will be held 2:00PM Thursday at the Jernigan Cemetery with Mark Jackson Deml officiating. Burial will be in the Jernigan Cemetery. Mr. Downs was a member of Westvue Church of Christ and was retired from MTSU as supervisor of Heating and Air. In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to the Jernigan Cemetery Trust Fund, P.O.
