Obituary

John Dellore Clary was born March 6, 1935 and died, November 18, 2012. Mr. Clary was a beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil Clary and Margaret Bruno Clary, and his wife, Mildred Fern Clary . He is survived by his sister Jody; sons, John D. Clary and Chris E. Clary. Two daughter in laws, Barbara Clary and Cindy Covert, three grandchildren David, Rachel, and Samantha, and one great grandson Alex. John was born in Tacoma WA. leaving right after high school to become a career Navy man serving over 20 years and retiring as a Chief Petty Officer in Newport, Rhode Island. He spent a portion of the Vietnam War onboard the USS Coral Sea as a Communications Technician, and was responsible for upgrading the ship to the most sophisticated, cutting edge equipment of the times. When he retired, he was in security, and a leader in tightening base security throughout the eastern seaboard. He then taught school in Salt Lake City UT, and worked at Lien Chemical while earning a Bachelors degree in accounting. He and Millie relocated to Nashville so that she could be closer to her family, whom they both enjoyed. John was very close with his mother in law Jimmie Lomax. He worked at Arrow industries through its purchase by ConAgra and retired from there as well. He enjoyed his retirement, and travelled much with his wife until her passing in 2004. John continued to travel until his health began to wane. He still made regular trips to his favorite spots in Tunica until April of this year. He was loved and adored by his friends and family and will be missed dearly. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made in Mr. Clary's name to the Nashville Humane Society. Visitation will be from 4:00PM to 8:00PM Monday at Woodfin Funeral Chapel in Smyrna. A graveside service will be held at 11:00AM Tuesday at Pegram Cemetery. Brother Milton Hicks will officiate.
