John William Burkhart, Jr., age 80 of Murfreesboro, TN, passed away Tuesday January 20, 2015. A native of Murfreesboro, TN, he was the son of the late John William Burkhart, Sr. and Mildred Wilson Burkhart. Mr. Burkhart was also preceded in death by his wife, JoAnne Martin Burkhart, and a sister, Millie Agee. Mr. Burkhart is survived by his son, John William Burkhart, III, and his wife Lisa of Nolensville, TN; daughter, Diane Byrd, and her husband Brad of Murfreesboro, TN; grandchildren, Charlie Burkhart of Nolensville, TN, Madison and Jack Byrd both of Murfreesboro, TN; long- time friend, Cindy Merryman of Murfreesboro, TN. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Friday at Wooodfin Memorial Chapel with Dr. Mark Gregory officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Grandsons will serve as honorary pallbearers. Mr. Burkhart was a US Army veteran, a member of First Baptist Church, Murfreesboro, and former owner and operator of Burkhart's Clothing Store. He was a retired real estate agent with Bob Parks Realty, and an active real estate investor. Mr. Burkhart was a life-long fan and supporter of the Tennessee Vols. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Middle Tennessee Christian School, in memory of Mr. Burkhart.
