JOHN LEROY BROOKS, age 56, of Murfreesboro, Tn. died Friday at home. He was a native of Rutherford County and was the son of the late Leroy & Naomi Dart Brooks. He was preceded in death by his wife, the late Marva Jernigan Brooks who died in 1977. He is survived by his brother, William Brooks and his wife Alice of Murfreesboro; a sister, Martha Lynne Hill and her husband, Joe of Murfreesboro. Funeral services will be at 2 pm Monday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel with Rev. William D. Gainey officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 3-5 pm Sunday at Woodfin Chapel. Mr. Brooks was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Murfreesboro, a painter, and a veteran of the United States Army.
