John L. Bowman, age 84, of Smyrna, TN, went to be with the Lord on October 9, 2015. A native of Marion, IN he was the son of the late Jacob and Gladys Rust Bowman. He was also preceded in death by his son, John Warren Bowman; granddaughter, Nicole Rapp and his sister, Joan Burnside. A funeral mass will take place on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Luke Catholic Church. A rosary service will take place at 10:30 a.m. prior to the service. Father Jacob Dio will officiate. A graveside service will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Cemetery in Paris, TN on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. Mr. Bowman is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Norma Jean Bowman; daughters, Keela Fields and her husband Paul of Marion, IN, Leslie Yanez and her husband Bob of Murfreesboro, TN, and Heather Rapp and her husband Karl of Lake in the Hills, IL; eight grandchildren, Jonett, Amber, Katelyn, Chris, Amanda, Rachel, Ariana and Eric; and seven great grandchildren. Mr. Bowman was a member of St. Luke Catholic Church in Smyrna, TN and was also a former member of St. Paul's Parish in Marion, IN. He was a proud veteran having served in the United States Air Force. He was an excellent plumber who took great pride in his work and was retired from the Plumber and Pipe Fitter's Local #166 and Local #689, both out of Fort Wayne, IN. Mr. Bowman loved to golf, fish and enjoyed woodworking. He was loved by his family and friends and will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers, memorials in memory of Mr. Bowman can be made to the St. Luke Building Fund.
