JOE B. SMITH, age 85, of Lavergne, Tn. died Monday at DeKalb Regional Hospital in Fort Payne, Alabama. He was the son of the late George & Edna Shaddy Smith. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary L. Smith. He is survived by his daughters, Mary Jo Fann of Lavergne, Patricia Robbins, Summerville, S. C., and Jo Ann Garvin, Lavergne; 8 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. Funeral services 11 am Friday at Woodfin Chapel, Smyrna with Rev. Milton Hicks officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn with full military rites. Visitation with the family 4-8 pm Thursday. Mr. Smith was a member of the Lavergne Church of Christ, veteran of the United States Navy having served during World War II, and a retired employee of Textron Industries.
