June 16, 1948 – February 6, 2023
Joe Patty, age 74 of Winchester, TN passed away on February 6, 2023. A lifelong resident of Murfreesboro, he is preceded in death by his parents, Elbert Kay Patty and Elaine Blair Patty; and sisters, Malinda Newman and Nancy Ryan.
Mr. Patty attended Campus School and was a 1966 graduate of Central High School. He joined the United States Army in 1968 and served until 1970 before entering the National Guard. He then attended MTSU, where he earned his Bachelor's Degree in 1974. He was a proud Blue Raider and enjoyed attending their sporting events throughout his life. He worked as a mail clerk for the United States Postal Service. After retirement, he worked part time at SportsCom for 12 years. He loved to work out and keep in shape, and enjoyed playing basketball, golf, and tennis. His favorite pastime was spending time with his family, especially his grandsons and his beloved dog, Hershey. He was a longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church, where he served as a greeter and helped in the children's department with the three-year-olds.
Mr. Patty is survived by his wife of 53 years, Elizabeth "Libby" Lanier Patty; daughters, Shannon Patty Jobe and husband Dean and Laura Blair Patty Brown and husband Ben; grandchildren, Joseph Austin Jones and wife Nicole, Braeden Taylor Jobe, and Micah Lanier Brown; a great-grandchild to arrive in August; sister Suzanne Maniscalco and husband Carl; and five nieces, six nephews, four great-nieces, and five great-nephews.
Visitation with the Patty family will be Sunday, February 12, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Woodfin Memorial Chapel with memorial service beginning at 2:00 PM. Dave Bauder will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mr. Patty's memory to Portico Pregnancy Resource Center, www.porticostory.org , or PAWS of Rutherford County, www.paws.rutherfordcountytn.gov .
