Joan Gentry Johnson, age 80, of Murfreesboro, TN, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 15, 2016. A native of Rutherford County, she was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Wallace and Elizabeth Chandler Gentry; and her husband, Amos G. Johnson.

Funeral services will be Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Woodfin Memorial Chapel in Murfreesboro, TN. Rev. Marshall Gupton will officiate. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.

Mrs. Joan is survived by her sisters, Gerry Black of Murfreesboro and Jane Gentry of Louisville, KY; brothers, William "Bill" Gentry of Smyrna and Bruce Gentry and his wife Charlotte of Smyrna; and her nephews and nieces, Tommy Gentry, Christy Jackson, Gwen Potash, Greg Gentry, Geri Lee, Michael Weber, Paula Weber, Suzanne Weber, David Weaver, Jerry Weaver and Lisa Weaver.

Mrs. Joan was a member of the Church of Christ. She was a 1954 graduate of Smyrna High School. Mrs. Joan was a licensed optician and along with her husband Amos, was owner and operator of Murfreesboro Optical. She was a proud member and president of the Flower Growers Garden Club and loved her garden club member friends very much and was also a member of the Tea Timers Lady's Bible Study Group at Calvary Baptist Church. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Family will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Woodfin Memorial Chapel in Murfreesboro, TN.
