Joan Gowen age 81 of Murfreesboro, TN, formerly of Tullahoma, TN passed away Wednesday November 7, 2012. A native of Newark, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Harry Eugene and Florence Jones Weideman. Mrs. Gowen was also preceded in death by a son, Larry Gowen who died in 1995 and a great granddaughter, Airiana Saulsberry who died in 2010. Mrs. Gowen is survived by her husband of 57 years, Jesse L. Gowen, Jr.; daughters, Kimberly Gowen England and her husband Jerry of Lascassas, TN, and Debi Gowen Gilley of Brentwood, TN; sister, Margie Harsch of Little Egg Harbor, NJ; grandchildren, Amy Beth Ghee, Amanda Fisher, and Justin Gilley; great granddaughter Jenna Ghee. Funeral service will be 11:00 AM Saturday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel with Rev. Tommy Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Mrs. Gowen was a member of Third Baptist Church and a homemaker. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at WOODFIN MEMORIAL CHAPEL. 893-5151.
