Joan Farris Bowers, age 64, of Murfreesboro, TN, passed away Sunday, May 6, 2018. A native of Rockvale, TN, she was preceded in death by her parents, Ellis and Ruby Jean Morton Farris; and brother, Doug Farris.

She is survived by her husband, Richard Bowers of Nashville, TN; son, Denzell "D.J." Bowers of Murfreesboro; step-daughter, Carrie Brown and her husband Will of LaVergne, TN; grandchildren, Isaiah Bowers, Dean Brown and Isabelle Brown; and great-grandchild, Hazley Bowers.

Mrs. Joan was a 1971 graduate of Glencliff High School and attended Lipscomb University. She was a retired Medical Transcriptionist. Her hobbies included decorating her home and gardening. She cherished animals, especially cats. She will be greatly missed by her family and many loving friends.

Memorials in memory of Mrs. Joan can be made to the American Lung Association or to the Murfreesboro Alive Hospice.

A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.
