Jessie Warren Cox passed to our Lord and Savior on May 3, 2009 at Stones Crest Hospital in Smyrna, Tn. Jessie was a native of Bridgeport, Alabama. A resident of Smyrna, TN, since 1966. He served in the US Army and Air Forces for 30 years retiring from military service at Sewart Air Base in 1970. He was a devoted and dedicated member of Stones River Baptist Church serving as a long time Senior Adult Sunday School teacher and Deacon. Jessie was preceded in death by his parents Jesse and Pearl of Bridgeport, Al; Brothers Charles and Robert Dean and Sister Katherine; and grandson Chris Scott of Topeka, Kansas and great grand children Raven and Steven Heckler. He is survived by his devoted wife Sally, in marriage for 62 years; brother John of McMinnville, TN, and sister Patricia of Bridgeport, Al; daughter Jan and her husband Jerry Todd of Murfreesboro; son Jesse Jr. and his wife Sharon of Smyrna, daughter Sally Jo and her husband Dan Scott, of Topeka, KS, and daughter Pam and her husband Ron Johnson, of Murfreesboro. Additionally, he is survived by grandchildren: Steve Heckler, Brett Todd; Evelyn, Katherine and Marc Cox; Marcy Scott and Amy Schroeder; April and Jeremy Johnson, and 11 great grand children. Visitation with family will be 6-8 P.M. Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at Woodfin Funeral Chapel at 203 North Lowry in Smyrna, TN (615) 459-3254. A funeral service will be conducted 2 P.M. Thursday, May 7, 2009 by Dr. G. Ross Maroney, Sr. and Reverend Barney Rickman at Stones River Baptist Church at 361 Sam Ridley Parkway East (615) 459-2933. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to the Stones River Baptist Church building fund.
