Obituary

JERRY ONEAL LOWERY SR. age 60 of Murfreesboro, died Monday August 17, 2009 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He was a native of Lawrence County and the son of the late Aldon and Ruby Bostic Lowery. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Friday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Julian Goodpaster and Allen Jackson will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Survived by his wife, Ginger McFarlin Lowery. Son, Jerry ONeal Lowery, Jr., and daughter, Virginia Marie Lowery both of Murfreesboro. Four brothers, Jimmy, Bobby, Steve, and Roger Lowery all of Lawrenceburg, Uncle and aunt, Gene and Earleen Adams of Lawrenceburg. Jerry was a member of North Boulevard Church of Christ. He was Co-Owner and Vice President of Woodfin Memorial Chapel and had been a Funeral Director for the past 37 years. Jerry was a 1967 graduate of Summertown High School, and a 1969 graduate of Columbia State Community College. He received his BS degree from MTSU in 1971 and was a 1972 graduate of John A. Gupton College of Mortuary Science. He received his law degree from the Nashville School of Law in 1978, and was licensed to practice in the state of Tennessee. In 2008, he was appointed to the Tennessee Medical Examiner Advisory Council by Governor Phil Bredesen. He was former President of the Murfreesboro Kiwanis Club and a member of the Rutherford County Sportsmans Club. The Chapel staff will serve as pallbearers.
