Jerry Conner Johns, age 81, of Smyrna, Tennessee died Saturday, December 28, 2013. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert H. and Mary Law Gooch Johns and his sister, Mary Helen Johns. A graveside service will be held Tuesday at 1:00PM at Mapleview Cemetery with military naval honors. Dr. John Larson will officiate. Mr. Johns is survived by his daughter, Jaylene Johns of Smyrna; brothers, Ben H. Johns, Richard G. Johns and his wife Lois; and a sister, Evelyn Lee and her husband Gerald all of Smyrna, TN; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. Johns was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Coast Guard. He was a member of Sam Davis Masonic Lodge #661 and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Smyrna. He taught at Vanderbilt, TSU and Nashville Tech. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Sam Davis Masonic Lodge #661. Visitation with the family will be Tuesday from 11:00AM to 12:45PM at Woodfin Chapel Smyrna.
