Jeremy Wesley Fortner, age 43, of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, passed away on Monday, May 22, 2017 at Alive Hospice Residence after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the beloved husband of Elicia (Lici) Gomez Fortner, and father of Emma (15), Reagan (11), McCoy (6), and Judson (4).
Jeremy was born in Nashville, Tennessee on May 14, 1974, and grew up in Middle Tennessee. He graduated from Cookeville High School in 1992, attended Harding University, and later graduated from Tennessee Technological University in 1997. Jeremy most recently worked for Barenbrug USA as a territory sales manager.
Jeremy was the son of Tony and Janine Fortner and Martha (Marty) and Ken Clark. He was the son-in-law of Kathy Alred. He was the grandson of Mae Fortner, the late Redick Fortner, Rubye Anderson and the late James R. Anderson. In addition to his wife, Elicia, and four children, Jeremy leaves behind his brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Misty Fortner, his sister and brother-in-law Mari Beth and Tim Wilson, brother-in-law Dax Gomez and wife Ashley, and two step-sisters Katie Scales and Julie Kennedy. Jeremy also leaves behind his beloved nieces and nephews, Carly and Joely Fortner, Annabelle Goodman, Anderson Fortner and Wyatt Wilson, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends.
Jeremy was an incredible Christian man who was a collector of friends. He was a sport enthusiast and an avid runner. Most of all, Jeremy loved spending time with his family and friends.
For those of you that knew him well, we will be making a book of memories to remind his children of the remarkable man and father that Jeremy was. Please include your name, how you met Jeremy, your favorite memory, or a funny story about him. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in memory of Jeremy to Alive Hospice.
Visitation will be Tuesday, May 30, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. until the time of memorial services beginning at 6:00 p.m. at Woodfin Memorial Chapel, Murfreesboro. Additional visitation will be Wednesday, May 31, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of memorial services beginning at 12:00 p.m. at the Jefferson Avenue Church of Christ in Cookeville. Mac McCutcheon will officiate both services.
