Obituary

JERALDENE "JERRI" FAYE YOUNG JONES. Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, Jerri Jones passed away into the loving arms of Jesus on December 11, 2020.  She was born in Clinton, OK on August 15, 1939 to Herman and Ruby Young.  After a few years, the family moved to El Paso, TX.  She attended Rusk Elementary, Austin High School and the College of the Mines (UTEP).  She was active in Chi Omega Sorority and worked for the El Paso Natural Gas Company.  She attended Zion Lutheran Church where she was active in the Youth Group, confirmed and later met and fell in love with man of her dreams, John Paul Jones.  They married on March 7, 1959 at Zion and celebrated 58 years of marriage until his death in 2017.  She loved her church and was involved in many activities including LWML and the Red Hat Society.  She had a heart of gold and volunteered her time answering phones at the hospital, delivering Meals-On-Wheels, participating in Las Amigas Women's Club as well as being a foster mother for Lee & Beulah Moor Children's Home.

Jerri cherished her family and always had words of encouragement for all. The encouragement was always founded in trusting in our Lord and Savior—values she always instilled in her children.  She exhibited these very traits as she faced an abundance of health issues for many years yet always persevered with her unyielding faith.

She had an endearing smile, loved to laugh, and always enjoyed our family travel adventures.  John Paul and Jerri made their last big adventure on this earth by moving to Tennessee in 2008 to be close to their children.

She is preceded in death by husband, John Paul Jones, parents Herman and Ruby Young, Sister and brother-in-law Barbara and Marvin Borchelt.  She is survived by brother, Stephen Young, brother-in-law Gordon Jones, Son, James Gordon Jones, daughters Joilyn (Tracy) George, Jennett Stephanie Jones, 4 grandchildren, Benjamin, Parker, Quentin and Maya and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life service will be held at Grace Lutheran Church, 811 East Clark, Murfreesboro, TN on December 19, 2020, at 11:00 am.  Family will begin greeting visitors at 10:15 am.
