Jennifer
Patrick
January 27, 1977 – February 22, 2023
Jennifer Raelynn Patrick, age 46, of Murfreesboro completed her earthly journey on Wednesday, February 22, 2023.Jennifer entered the world on January 27, 1977, in Ft. Pierce, FL. She was a blondie with blue eyes that would become her trademark feature. She was the fourth of what would end up being ten children, but (despite her middle-child position) she never let her personality be lost in the crowd.
Jen was always larger-than-life. She was a dreamer; a writer; an artist; a creator of all things beautiful, delicious, and fun. Mediocrity had no place in her life's vocabulary—she was generous and extravagant in the most loving of ways. When it came to her love, she loved deeply and without regard to whether it was deserved or reciprocated. She just loved.
Jen, or "Jenni" to her family, was an old soul. She adored the classics — literature, music, architecture — while also weaving in her fair dose of rebel. If you saw her library or Spotify list, you would probably be very confused. She was an intriguing blend of opposites. She could chat up your grandmomma after a Sunday sermon with eloquence matched only by the most well-educated belles, but she could also cuss like a sailor and shoot whiskey alongside men twice her size without losing an ounce of charm.
She was a storyteller by nature, and could easily captivate your attention with one of her many tales crafted from the adventures she had collected along the way. She was a traveler; she made a point to see the sights that most people only ever see in pictures on the internet — and she could describe these places in a way that made you feel like you had experienced it right alongside her.
Jen was a collector of all things curious — antiques, handwritten recipe journals, Reader's Digest books, societal rejects in need of someone to believe in them. She was a much cooler version of Mother Teresa. The depths of her generosity knew no limits. She welcomed anyone and made you feel at home even if you'd never had one before. She just had that way about her.
Most importantly, Jen was a doting mother. Her "miracle boy" arrived when she was 42, a mere few weeks after receiving the cancer diagnosis that would end up stealing her from us. Greyson was her everything; I don't know which of them adored the other more. Of course he has her big blue eyes; it's hard to feel like she's really gone when you're looking at him. Her love for him is what kept her fighting, kept her getting back up after every blow, and kept her with us for the three and a half years that statistics said we shouldn't have had.
Jen leaves behind an immense amount of family, both blood and chosen. If you knew her, you loved her. And if you didn't love her, then you never really knew her.
"I never wanted to go away, and the hard part is leaving you all. I'm not afraid, but it seems as if I should be homesick for you even in heaven."
— Louisa May Alcott
Jen is survived by her son, Greyson Wimmer; parents, Robert and Sandra Cribbs Patrick; sisters, Melissa Mathieson and husband David, Heather Rodgers and husband Travis, Amie Thompson and husband Max, Jessica Dockey and husband Chris, Emily Patrick; brothers, Rob Roberts and wife Tara, Ryan Roberts and wife Mandi, Nathan Patrick and Liz Cohen; Greyson father, Stephen Wimmer; many nieces and nephews and loved ones.
