Jean Powers Vaughn, age 74 of Murfreesboro, TN, died Friday September 21, 2012. Mrs. Vaughn was a native and lifelong resident of Rutherford County, having attended Crichlow and Kittrell Schools. She was the daughter of the late John Ivie and Lela Pearl McClaran Powers. Mrs. Vaughn was also preceded in death by a sister, Wanda Getz and a granddaughter, Shalyn Mica Brooks. Mrs. Vaughn is survived by her husband of 57 years, Jack Troy Vaughn, Sr.; sons, Jack Troy (Brenda) Vaughn and Ken (Sonya) Vaughn all of Murfreesboro, TN; daughters, Vivian (Roger) Schmelzer of Lascassas, TN, Vanessa (Steve) Brooks of Ellenboro, WV, and Valerie (Lynn) Williams of Murfreesboro, TN; brother, James Ronald Powers of Crossville, TN; sister, Frances Powers of Murfreesboro, TN; 12 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be 10:00 AM Tuesday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel with Brother Frank Lipetri officiating. Entombment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens with grandsons and great-grandsons serving as pallbearers. Mrs. Vaughn was completely devoted to her children and her family. They were her passions. She will be greatly missed. She was a member of Holly Grove Baptist Church and was the retired property manager at Westbooks Towers.
