JEAN KIRTLEY MOLLOY, age 91, of Murfreesboro, died July, 28, 2009. She was born in Perry Florida and was the daughter of the late Dr. James Addison and Mary Maude DuVal Kirtley. She was also preceded in death by her husband; Newton Ford Molloy Jr., who died in 1964, a brother; James Addison Kirtley, M.D. who died in 1968, and two sisters; Elizabeth VanDeren Kirtley Whittington who died in 1994 and Nancy Frances Kirtley Kerr who died in June of this year. Funeral Services will be at 2:00pm Sunday August, 2, 2009 at First United Methodist Church. Reverend Tommy Perkins and Reverend Michael OBannon will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Mrs. Molloy is survived by two sons and their wives; Newton Ford and Charlotte Molloy III and James Addison and Daryla Molloy, both of Murfreesboro, one sister; Aynn Puckett Kirtley Phillips of Albany, Georgia, two grandchildren; Megan Elizabeth Molloy and Suzannah Applis Molloy of Murfreesboro. Mrs. Molloy was a member of the First United Methodist Church since 1944 and loved her participation in the Anne Huggins Sunday School Class. Mrs. Molloy was a 1935 graduate of Murfreesboro Central High School and a 1939 graduate of Tennessee College for Women where she was selected as the May Queen. She was a member of the Murfreesboro Charity Circle, the Frances Bohnanon Music Club, Col. Hardy Murfree Chapter of the D.A.R., and the Murfreesboro Womens Club. She was a former first grade teacher at McFadden Elementary School, an employee of Sewart Air Force Base during World War II, and was retired from the state department of Human Services. She played the Violin in college and with many local orchestras and the Messiah. She enjoyed arranging flowers and providing them whenever they were needed. She enjoyed her grandchildren and being at family gatherings. Mrs. Molloy was a sports enthusiast who loved to walk, travel attend the races at Keeneland watch tennis and golf. Mrs. Molloy loved to write stories including The Magic of Keeneland , Who? Me , Will we ever meet again , Smyrna (Sewart) Air Base , and Maggie. Pallbearers will be nephews Fred Kerr, John Temple Phillips III, Kenneth Whittington, Dick Whittington, James DuVal Whittington, Bob Murfree, Jim Bacon, Richard Tippens, Dr. Dick Meeks, and Pat Shannon; Honorary Pallbearers will be Matt Murfree, Dr. Frank Carter, and Tommy Hord.
