Jean Jakes age 78 of Murfreesboro, passed away Thursday December 5, 2013. A native of Bedford County, she was the daughter of the late Dave and Kate Corbitt Harris. She is also preceded in death by a grandson Keith Gipson. Mrs. Jakes is survived by her husband of 63 years; Dorris Jakes, daughters; Kathy Gipson and her husband Larry, Kay Cantrell and her husband Steve, son Kirk Jakes and his wife Mary all of Murfreesboro, five grandchildren; Tammy Maples and her husband Chris of Murfreesboro, Jaime Kohal and her husband Randy of LaVergne,Felicia Jakes and Abe Russell of Nashville, Kimberly Cantrell of Murfreesboro, and Chad Jakes of Murfreesboro, and one great-grandchild Austin Russell of Nashville. Mrs. Jakes was retired from General Electric and was of the Baptist faith. Visitation will be 4:00 until 8:00pm Friday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel and 10:00am until time of Funeral service at 1:00pm Saturday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Brother Gaylon Dawson will officiate with burial to follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Grandson Chad Jakes and other family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
