Jannie "Penny" Loraine Pennington, age 87, of Smyrna, TN went to be with the Lord Friday, May 23, 2014. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jasper and Willie Bell Trout Shoemaker; husband, John Wesley Pennington; daughter, Norma Stewart; and granddaughter, Sharon Bates. Funeral services will be Monday at 1:00PM at Woodfin Chapel in Smyrna. Pastor Trey Gamble will officiate. A graveside service will follow at 3:00PM in Woodlawn Memorial Park. Mrs. Pennington is survived by her two daughters, Lois Pinson of Murfreesboro, TN and Donna Hargis and her husband Ralph of Smyrna, TN; son, Paul Short and his wife Gayle of Nashville, TN; seven grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; and three great great-grandchildren. Mrs. Pennington was a member of Central Baptist Church in Nashville, TN. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be Sunday from 12:00PM to 7:00PM and Monday from 11:00AM to 1:00PM at Woodfin Chapel in Smyrna. An Eastern Star service will be held Sunday at 7:00PM at Woodfin Chapel in Smyrna. 615-459-3254
