Janie Prater Mongrue, age 80, of Murfreesboro, TN. died January, 6 2010 at her residence after a courageous battle with Ovarian Cancer. A native of Murfreesboro, she was born in 1929 but spent most of her life in Atlanta, GA. She was preceded in death by her parents Arlie Lewis and Dovie Lee Rigsby Prater and a daughter Angela Marie Mongrue. Services will be Saturday at 1:30 P.M. at Woodfin Memorial Chapel with Father Mark Sappenfield officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Mrs. Mongrue is survived by her son; Carl A. Mongrue Jr. of Atlanta, GA., daughters and sons in law; Cindy and Bob Beecher of Wausau, WI, and Cher and Ricky Jones of Murfreesboro, TN, grandchildren; Heather and her husband Otto Gunther, Gina and John Whitehouse, Holly Beecher, Brittni, Timothy and Rick Jones, great grandchildren; Aramis, Ariana, Dawson and Daelyn Whitehouse, and one brother; Arlie Prater Jr. of California. Mrs. Mongrue attended MTSU for 2 years then went to Tennessee Tech where she graduated with a BS in Business Education. She was a teacher at Rossville High School. She raised her children then went back to work as a self employed Manufacturers Sales Representative under the company name of AATYCO, traveling three states. She attended St. Rose Catholic Church and was also a long time member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Atlanta, GA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
