Mrs. Janet Oughton, age 88, of Murfreesboro, TN passed away Friday, November 17, 2017. She was born in Columbia, SC to the late Russell, Sr. and Marie McDougall Wiles. Mrs. Oughton was a 1949 graduate of the University of South Carolina where she majored in English and minored in Spanish. She had several jobs throughout her career but her longest title was that of homemaker to her family.

Mrs. Oughton is survived by her son, James Oughton, Jr. of Murfreesboro; daughter, Elizabeth Oughton of Taylors, SC; sister-in-law, Charlotte Oughton Curtis and her husband Chuck of Ft. Mill, SC; and two nephews, Charlie Curtis of Charlotte, NC and Chris Curtis of Spartanburg, SC. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Russell Alex Wiles, Jr. and her husband of 56 years, James Oughton, Sr.

Visitation with the family will be Tuesday, November 21, 2017 from 4:00pm until 7:00pm at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. A rosary will be held Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at 6:30pm at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. The funeral mass will be held Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at 10:30am at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
