Jane
Rongey
March 21, 1954 – December 24, 2024
Jane Bliven Rongey, at the age of 70, went home to Jesus peacefully with her family by her side on December 24, 2024.
Jane was born to Kenneth and Nancy Bliven on March 21, 1954 in Middletown, Ohio.
She met the love of her life, Dennis Wayne Rongey, at Lambuth University in Jackson, TN. They were married on August 6, 1977. Together, they were blessed with three children, Jennifer, Matthew and Megan and lived most of their lives in Franklin, TN, later settling in Smyrna, TN.
Jane was an admired teacher for decades, always saying 2nd grade was her favorite. Years after stepping away from teaching, students would reach out to keep in touch, sharing what an impact she had on them.
Jane's legacy will live on through the stories she shared and the memories of those who had the opportunity to know her. She will be remembered for her joyful and encouraging spirit, her kindness towards others, and the ability to find the positive in every situation. Her greatest joy in her latter years was being a "Meme" to her 5 grandchildren. She will be remembered as a loving mother, sister, aunt, cousin, friend and neighbor.
Jane was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth Bliven and Nancy Bliven; mother-in-law, Zelma Carney; husband, Dennis Rongey; daughter, Jennifer Rongey; sister, Frances Hughes.
Jane is survived by her beloved children, Matthew Rongey (Holly) and Megan Nelms (Jesse) ; her brothers whom she loved dearly: John Bliven (Leslye) and William Bliven (Pam); her grandchildren, whom she lovingly referred to as "Meme's gems:" Savannah, Anna Caroline, Allie Mae, Adalyn and Ripp; and a host of special nieces, nephews, cousins and friends from her community.
Visitation will be Monday December 30th 10:00AM until 12Noon at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Funeral service will be Monday December 30th 12Noon at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. www.woodfinchapel.com
