James David Yates, age 75, of Smyrna, TN, passed away Tuesday, February 11, 2014. A native of Sewanee, TN, he was the son of the late James L. and Margaret Keith Yates. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Susan Mary Yates. A memorial service will be held Sunday at 2:00PM at Woodfin Chapel in Smyrna. Father Jacob Dio will officiate. A graveside service will follow in Mapleview Cemetery. Mr. Yates is survived by his sons; Andy Yates, Ricky Yates; daughters, Toni Yates Connerly; Samantha Whorley and her husband Keith, and Andrea Hickey and her husband, Randall; grandchildren, Alex, Susan, Kaitlin, Matthew, David, Austin, Jamie and Kaci, and great grandchild, Wyatt. Mr. Yates was a member of St. Luke Catholic Church. He and his wife Susan were the owners of Yates Family Restaurant in Smyrna for many years. Visitation will be Saturday from 4:00PM to 8:00PM at Woodfin Chapel in Smyrna.
