James Aubrey Tune, Jr., age 85 of Murfreesboro passed away Wednesday, October 15, 2025.  He was born in Nashville, TN. Jim was preceded in death by his parents James Aubrey Tune, Sr. and Perdita Ruth Greer Tune, brothers, Daniel Henson Tune and Richard "Dick" Tune and his first wife, Dannis Faye Ross Tune.

Jim was a Christian who graduated with a Master's in Education from Middle Tennessee State University.  He began his career as an elementary teacher in a one room schoolhouse at Bethel School. He then became Principal of John Coleman School in 1978 and finished his 40 year career as Director of Adult Education for the Rutherford County School System. He said one of his greatest joys was watching his adult ed students achieve success.  As a part of his community involvement, Jim served as Regent of the Sam Davis Home in Smyrna. Jim was an avid Smyrna Bulldog Fan. He loved NASCAR and Dale Earnhardt. He also enjoyed camping and traveling in his RV as well as traditional bluegrass music. Jim was a master storyteller. His family and friends will remember him by his humor and wit.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Gail Ventura Tune; children, Scott Tune and wife Shelia of Chattanooga, Melissa Kaufman Lovell and husband, Patrick of Atlanta; grandchildren, Celia Lovell of West Palm Beach and Griffin Lovell of Atlanta; sister, Betty Mullins; sister-in-law, Martha Carver; nieces, Tammy Glidden and husband, Jeff, Melissa Davidson and husband Kirk, nephews Dan Mullins and wife Scarlett, Will Tune and Travis Tune.

In lieu of flowers, memorial can be made to the charity of your choice.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 19th from 2:00 to 5:00 PM at Woodfin Chapel, Smyrna.  Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 20th at 11:00 AM at Woodfin Chapel, Smyrna.  Kelly Campbell will officiate.
