James Emmett Skinner gracefully exited this world surrounded by his family on Wednesday, January 23, 2019, in Marietta, GA. Jim Skinner was born to Emmett Lavoid Skinner and Celia Lee Westbrooks Skinner on March 4, 1934, in Lawrence County TN.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Julia Elizabeth Stubblefield Skinner, and his two loving children, Martha Celia Skinner Sanderson (husband Gregory) of Marietta, GA and James Emmett Skinner, Jr. (wife Nancy) of Murfreesboro, TN. He was blessed with three grandchildren, Katherine Sabrina Skinner of Murfreesboro, TN, Helen Elizabeth Sanderson Mitchell (husband Hunter) of New Orleans, LA, and Richard Lane Sanderson of Denver, CO.

His surviving siblings include Joann Simpson and Billy Skinner of Knoxville, TN.

He was Summertown high school class president and loved playing and coaching basketball. His generous nature served him well.

Jim Skinner dutifully served his country during the Korean War. He returned to the states to complete his BS from MTSU. He retired after 30 years from the United States Postal Service as a rural letter carrier. He served as president the Tennessee Rural Letter Carriers Association.

He loved his life and his family. He was a gentle man. He faithfully followed his beacon home.

Visitation will be held at Woodfin Funeral Chapel on Sunday, January 27 at noon. Service will began at 2:00 PM. Jim will be laid to rest following the service at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Murfreesboro, TN. www.woodfinchapel.com
