James Robert Oakley, age 73 of Smyrna died on Saturday December 21, 2024. He was a native of Union City, TN and was preceded in death by his parents, Iloff Oakley and Geneva Byrum Oakley.

Mr. Oakley was a Christian and was a 28 year veteran of the United States Navy. After retirement he moved to Smyrna and had worked many different jobs in his retirement, and loved to travel.

He is survived by his wife, Pat Vandergriff; children, Mark Oakley and Brittany Proctor, Nicholas Oakley and wife Samantha, Rebecca Oakley and Mar'cale Gardner; Three Grandchildren; brother, Tommy Oakley and wife Elaine, Doug Oakley and wife Jerry; sister, Stella Dye and husband Larry, Shirley Oakley and husband Anthony Tucker, Cherie Pearl and husband Steven.
