JAMES TAYLOR J.T. BATEY, Jr., age 79 of LaVergne died Sunday March 21, 2010 at Alive Hospice of Saint Thomas. He was a native of Rock Springs Community, and was the son of the late, James Taylor and Willie Ella Smartt Batey, Sr. He was also preceded in death by brothers and sisters, Dudley Batey, Mable Bair, Lullard Batey, Marion Chinn, George Batey, and Pauline Rowland. Funeral service will be 3:00PM Wednesday at Woodfin Chapel, Smyrna with Bro. Bill Harris officiating. Burial will follow in Batey Cemetery on Waldron Road. He is survived by his daughter, Lori Batey Walker of LaVergne; two grandchildren, Taylor Lynn Walker and Tanner Keith Walker both of LaVergne; brothers, Bobby ( Fann) Batey of Smyrna, Tom (Anne) Batey of Murfreesboro, Harry (Marie) Batey, Sr. of Lewisburg, and Ben (Glenda) Batey of Morrison, and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Batey was a retired Electronics Technician with Chromalox Instruments and Controls, LaVergne Division. Family and friends will serve as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Turner McFarlin, Jimmy Mc Farlin, Tim Batey, Jim Batey, and friends and co-workers of Chromalox.
