JAMES A. JIM TAPSCOTT age 85 of the Blackman Community, died Sunday April 17, 2011 at his home after an extended illness. A native of Flint City, AL, he was the son of the late Reese L. and Ethel McClellan Tapscott. Mr. Tapscott is survived by his wife of 64 years, Vallie Gregory Tapscott; daughter and son-in-law, Retha and Victor Woods of Murfreesboro, TN; son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Patricia Tapscott of Mt. Juliet, TN; grandchildren, Nikki Koehler of Wartrace, TN, Anna Tapscott of Mt. Juliet, TN; great granddaughter, Erica Maupin of Wartrace, TN; sister, Van Bruno of Nashville, TN Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Wednesday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel with Rev. Leonard Rader and Rev. Terry Frazier officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens with military honors. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Mr. Tapscott was currently a member of Marshall Knob Baptist Church and former long-time member of Green Hill Baptist Church in Blackman and a WW II Navy veteran. He was a 10 year volunteer at the Alvin C. York VA Hospital, former Chairman of Almaville Volunteer Fire Department, former Grand Master at the Al Menah Edgefield Lodge in Nashville and driver for Shriners Childrens Hospital van. Mr. Tapscott was a retired supervisor with National Linen Service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to any local hospice organization of your choice in memory of Mr. Tapscott.
