James Greer Floyd Jr., died March 3, 2009 at Middle Tennessee Medical Center. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Greer Floyd Sr. and Rosa Whitehead Floyd. A loving husband and father, he is survived by his wife of 41 years, Cheryl Floyd, two daughters, Shawnda Michelle (Greg) Gossage and Shannon Marie Floyd, both of Murfreesboro, TN., two granddaughters, Katie Gossage and Abby Gossage, also of Murfreesboro, TN. Also surviving are three brothers, James T. Floyd of Nashville, TN., William Ronald Floyd of Murfreesboro, TN., and Richard Gary Floyd of San Francisco, CA. Funeral Services will be at 2 P.M. Friday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Pastor Charles Ray will officiate. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery. Mr. Floyd was a graduate of Marshall County High School in Lewisburg, TN. He served in the United States Navy from 1961 to 1965. Mr. Floyd attended Light House Baptist Church and was an Independent Insurance Agent in Murfreesboro.
