James "Jim"
Edmund Hiebing
August 22, 1937 – January 21, 2026
With heavy hearts, the family of James Edmund Hiebing announces his peaceful return to God on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, from his home in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
Jim will be remembered as a devoted Christian, a loving family man, a loyal friend, and a dedicated countryman.
Jim was born on Sunday, August 22, 1937, in Sheboygan, Wisconsin to Edmund and Marie Hiebing and grew up with two brothers, Gary and Glenn, who later married Carmen. Jim married Barbara Bartzen and had three children, Mark, Michael, and Lisa.
Later, Jim was blessed with Mark's marriage to Pamela and Mike's marriage to Kimberley. Jim became a grandfather with the arrival of six grandchildren, Gary, Darla, Scott, Janelle, Trevor, and Donald. He was granted the title of great grandfather with addition of fifteen great- great grandchildren.
In 1988, Jim met Karen Vaughan, and they married on April 28, 1990, uniting their two families. Jim welcomed Karen's three sons and their families; Patrick and Bianca Vaughan, Mark and Debbie Vaughan, and Brian Vaughan, who graced him with seven grandchildren, Chelsea, Alexis, Tyler, Samantha, Brittany, Emily and Molly, as well as five great grandchildren.
Jim had three great loves in his life, God, family and country. He was a deeply devoted Christian who enjoyed spending time with his friends from his bible class, learning, understanding and applying the teachings of Christ to his everyday life. His volunteer time with the Gideons gave Jim the ability to spread the word of God to others. He shared his faith with everyone, happy to give blessings and say a prayer for anyone he met along the way.
Being a family man was paramount to Jim. He and Karen enjoyed touring new houses under construction, spending time with family and friends, watching political rallies together, and volunteering as greeters at their church. When he was younger, Jim enjoyed being outdoors, hunting and playing driveway basketball and backyard hockey with his sons. Jim spent time watching old movies and debating politics and religion with his daughter. He showed his competitive side when playing the board game, Marbles, a beloved family past time with his stepfamily. He always went big for any family get-together, ensuring everyone was happy, fed and had a great time. Jim even fell in love with each of Karen's dogs, especially their current Shih Tzu, Foo Man Chooey Too, who enjoyed curling up in Jim's lap and taking naps with him.
Jim was a true American, who never apologized for being a patriot or shied away from a political discussion. He proudly flew the American flag in the front yard and supported the armed forces and all emergency service men and women. Jim was a staunch supporter of President Trump and the republican party, constantly pushing for the betterment of the country he so deeply loved.
Jim proved to be a smart and fierce businessman. In San Diego, California, he owned his own machine shop, Precision Details Incorporated, earning contracts and manufacturing aerospace parts for General Dynamics, Convair and other notable companies.
To Jim's family and friends, he will always live in their hearts and memories as a larger than life, rough and tough, loyal, devoted, loving man with an unforgettable laugh and the happiest bright blue eyes, who gave the warmest bear hugs and best handshakes.
They know he is at peace with God and will be watching over them from above. Goodbyes are not forever, they simply mean I will miss you until we meet again in Heaven.
