James E. Dill, age 87 of Murfreesboro, died Saturday. He was a native of Rutherford County and the son of the late John Elwood and Laura Ryan Dill. He was also preceded by his first wife, Allie "Lee" Massey Dill, and two sisters, Ruby Dill Ristvedt and Idabelle Dill Swafford.

Survivors include his wife Marlene Cerutti Dill; children, Bob Dill and wife Ronda of Franklin, Mike Peek and wife Annette, and Shawn Peek, all of Murfreesboro; grandchildren, Morgan Dill of Franklin and Jordan Peek of Murfreesboro; several nieces, nephews, and other loving family.

Mr. Dill was a 1949 graduate of Murfreesboro Central High School. He was the founder of the Venture Distribution Company where he worked until his retirement in 2004.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel with Chip Hunter officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Family will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be his weekly card playing friends.
