JAMES MANLEY DICKSON, Sr. died April 13 at the age of 92. He was the son of the late Dr. Alvah and Zelma Dickson. His wife Judy Dickson of 70 years preceded him in death last year. He is survived by his son Jim Dickson, Jr. and daughter-in-law Mary Alice Dickson, two grandchildren, Michelle Price-husband Adam and Michael Dickson-wife Amanda, and one great grandchild Mary Catherine Price. During World War II he was a production line supervisor in the aircraft plant at Elizabeth City, N.C. There he was involved in modifying the B-25 bombers that Jimmy Doolittle flight crews flew off the US Aircraft Carrier USS Hornet. He was the former owner of Murfreesboro Hardware and Dickson Marine. Jim was a master mason for over 50 years and member of the Scottish Rites and Shriners. Jim purchased his first touring bike at the age of 62 and traveled to 47 of the 48 continuous United States and three Canadian provinces. He often attended bike rallies and won numerous oldest bike rider awards. He was a member of First United Methodist Church for over 56 years. Visitation with the family is at the church from 10:00-11:00 Thursday, April 19 followed by funeral services, with Pastor Michael OBannon officiating at 11:00. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the building fund at First United Methodist Church.
