James Arnold Davis Sr., age 90, of Murfreesboro, TN. passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 7, 2011 at the Tennessee Veterans home. A native of Windle, TN. he was the son of Oscar and Bertha Lewis Davis. He was also preceded in death by his wife Lester Ann Campbell Davis and his grandson Scott Davis Jr. A graveside service will be held Monday at 10:00 AM at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Brother Ron Caldwell will officiate. Mr. Davis is survived by his two sons and daughters in law, Jim Janie Davis Jr. and Scott Betty Davis both of Murfreesboro; three sisters and a brother in law, Eva Mike Alford of Portsmouth, VA., Sarah Maloney of Murfreesboro and Bobbie Jean Martin of Chesapeake, VA.; three grandchildren, Jennifer Chris Haynes, Lauri Eddie McAteer, and Tripp Kati Davis; and eleven great grandchildren. Mr. Davis was a 1938 graduate of Central High School. A veteran of World War II he served in the European Theatre. Having fought in five major campaigns, The Normandy Invasion, The Northern France Campaign, The Ardennes Campaign, The Rhineland Campaign, and Occupation of Central Europe, he was awarded 5 bronze stars. Danny Alsup, Larry Pinkerton, Mark Noblin, Thomas Parker, Eddie McAteer and Chris Haynes will serve as pallbearers. Visitation with the family will be from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM Sunday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. 893-5151
