James R. Covington, age 89, of Rockvale, died Thursday, July 17, 2014. Mr. Covington was a native of Rockvale, and son of the late Roscoe and Lillie Wilson Covington. He is also preceded in death by his wife, Ada Lamb Covington, brothers, Grady Covington and John Covington and sister, Miss Vera Covington. Funeral services will be 11:00am Saturday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Rev. Donnie Clayton will officiate. Burial will be in the Carlton Cemetery. Mr. Covington is survived by two sons, David Covington and his wife Darlene of Rock Island, and Larry Covington of Rockvale, one daughter, Louise Adams and her husband Roy of Murfreesboro, five grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Mr. Covington was a member of Middle Tennessee Church of God and was a veteran of WWII. He was a former employee of Neuhoff Packing Company before entering the ministry as a minister in the Church of God in Anderson, IN. He served as a minister for over forty years with congregations in Savannah, Lewisburg and Hilham, TN and Rogersville, AL. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00PM to 8:00PM at Woodfin Memorial Chapel.
