James J. Cotter, passed away on Wednesday March 21, 2012 at the age of 82. He was born to Emmett and Pauline Grabowski Cotter in Milwaukee, WI on December 23, 1929. He attended Boys Tech Trade school studying to be an electrician. He was a champion swimmer and record holder for the school taking first in the state for the 200 yard free style. He served his electrical apprenticeship for the Milwaukee railroad and worked 35 years an electrician for the State of WI at Southern Wisconsin Center retiring in 1989. Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing, and quality time on many of Wisconsins lakes in his boat with family and friends. He later moved to Tennessee in 2007 to be closer to his daughter and family after his wife was severely stricken with Dementia. Jim is survived by his wife, Donna Laux Cotter of Lake Geneva, WI; son Roger Cotter and his wife Carla of Flagstaff, AZ; daughter, Colleen Anderson and her husband Sam of Christiana, TN; grandchildren, Kim Everidge, Jamie (Amy) Cotter, Katie Dennis, Dustin Andrews, Ashley Andrews, Zeke Anderson, Seth Anderson, Sydney Jahns, Samantha Anderson and 8 great grandchildren; beloved brother of sister, Ruth Searing of Pewaukee, WI and her late husband Gilbert; and late brothers, Richard (Pat) Cotter and George (Audrey) Cotter. Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Saturday at Woodfin Funeral Chapel with Brother Nathan Gregory officiating. Burial will follow in Miller Cemetery, Christiana, TN. The family would like to thank the staff of Community Care of Rutherford County and NHC as well as the Angels from Caris Hospice for the loving care for Mr. Cotter.
