With deep sorrow and enormous love, we mourn the passing of James Christopher Burke, 57, of Smyrna, TN, who went to his heavenly resting place on April 4, 2025.

Chris will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 35 years, Dr. Michelle Burke; a proud and devoted father to three children: son, James Patrick Burke of Smyrna, TN; daughters, Catherine Anne Burke and Jennifer Nicole Burke of Chapel Hill, TN; brothers, Lloyd Alfred Burke, Jr. (Anne Marie) of Dawsonville, GA and Robert Andrew Burke (Lisa) of Winder, GA.

He was the son of the late Lloyd Alfred Burke, Sr., and Nancy Smith Burke and preceded in death by his brother, Stephen Michael Burke.

A proud 1985 graduate of Smyrna High School, Chris was an outstanding pitcher and infielder for the Bulldog Baseball team and played center for the school's football program. He was a longtime official and referee, as well as coach, in local sports leagues within the Smyrna community and in the surrounding area.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Woodfin Funeral Home in Smyrna at 6:00 PM on Wednesday, April 9th. Visitation will take place from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Celebrate Recovery at the Experience Community Church of Murfreesboro.
