James "Jim" Benton Hinson, age 84 of LaVergne, TN, passed away Wednesday, March 4, 2026. A native of Trenton, TN, he was the son of the late Levi and Julia Rankin Hinson. He was also preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Hinson, sister, Ruby Hinson, and a brother Bill Meacham.

Jim is survived by his daughter, Ragina Young and her husband Ronnie of Murfreesboro, TN; son, Ronnie Mack Hinson of Murfreesboro, TN; granddaughter, Brandy Ferrara and her husband Chris of Christiana, TN; a great-granddaughter, Aubryn Ferrara of Christiana, TN; and the mother of his children, Lavonda Hinson of Murfreesboro, TN.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, March 19, 2026, at Coleman Cemetery with Rev. Earl Black officiating. Burial will follow in Coleman Cemetery with military honors.

Jim was a proud U. S. Marine from 1959 to 1963. He graduated from Peabody High School in 1959. After the Marines he was a photographer in West Tennessee before moving to Murfreesboro. Before retiring, he worked at Lifetouch Schools Studio.
