JACKIE L. BARNES, age 74, of Woodbury died under the care of Alive Hospice, Thursday, September 4, 2008. He was a native of McMinn County, TN and the son of the late Lee and Mildred Dockery Barnes. He was also preceded in death by a daughter: Jackie Lynn McClanahan, and grandparents: Mike and Cora Witt Barnes and Elijah and Mabel Davis Dockery. He is survived by his wife: Wanda Barnes, son and daughter-in-law: Johnnie and Janell Barnes of McPherson, KS, daughter and son-in-law: Jody Barnes-Turner and Mike Turner of Shelbyville, TN, stepsons: William S. Ledford and Jeffrey Scott Ledford, sisters: Marjorie (Harry) Harman of Lascassas, Joann (Dan) Snider of Murfreesboro, brothers: Jimmy Barnes of Murfreesboro, Vernon Barnes of Hixson, TN, grandchildren: Jonathan, Jakoe, Jarrod, Jaelon, Janae, & Tristan Barnes, Zane Tyson, Camron & Cody McClanahan, great grandson: Dane McClanahan. Mr. Barnes was a Baptist. He was owner and operator of Barnes Small Engine for several years on Broad Street in Murfreesboro. During his military career he served in the U.S. Navy, U.S. Air Force, and was retired from the Tennessee Army National Guard. He was a patriotic veteran and an avid outdoorsman with a love for animals. He leaves behind his faithful dog, Pedro. No services will be held by his request.
