Jack Dempsey Irby, Jr. age 65 of Smyrna, passed away Monday October 21, 2013. A native of Davidson County, he was the son of the late Jack Dempsey Sr. and Loyce Morrison Irby. Funeral service will be 10:00am Saturday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel with Brother Tim Fisher officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Mr. Irby is survived by his wife of 46 years; Leana Aspenleiter Irby, daughters; Shelly Baugh and her husband Brian of Smyrna, Christie Neely and her husband Johnny of Murfreesboro, son Jack Dempsey Irby III of Nashville, six grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, sister Donna Finn and her husband Andy, and two brothers; Frank Irby and his wife Judy, and Joe Irby and his wife April all of Nashville. Mr. Irby was a member of the Bakery Confectionery and Tobacco workers and was the Labor-Coordinator for the AFL-CIO. Visitation will be 2:00 until 8:00pm Friday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel.
