Hubert "Pete" G. Black, age 83; of Murfreesboro, TN, passed away on Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at his home. He was born in Milton, TN at the Black Home Place and was the son of the late, James Hillard and Eva Groom Black. He was also preceded in death by his two brothers, Wayne Forrest Black and William Denny Black.

Mr. Black is survived by his wife, Gerry Gentry Black; brothers, Buddy Black and his wife Annabel of Woodbury, TN, Sam Black and his wife Frances of Murfreesboro, TN and Bob Black and his wife Lynn of St. Augustine, FL; niece, Tammy Lowe and her husband Maurice; nephew, Tim Black and his wife Melinda; great-niece, Megan Lowe; and great nephews, Ben Black and Brad Black.

Mr. Black was a member of Northminster Presbyterian Church in Murfreesboro. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served during the Korean Conflict. He was an optician and was the owner and operator of Middle Tennessee Optical in Murfreesboro for several years before his retirement in 1994.

Nephews will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be from Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Woodfin Memorial Chapel with the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Pastor Marshall Gupton will officiate. Burial will follow in Milton Cemetery in Milton, TN.
